Daily breakdown 

Day 1 Private van transfer from Villa Cerro Castillo along the gravel Carretera Austral Sur to the town of Puerto Río Tranquilo to carry out the Navigation to the Marble Caves Nature Sanctuary on General Carrer Lakea. Navigation is on a regular service, open motorboat, on a first-come, first-served basis. Life jackets, safety briefing, and rain gear will be provided if needed.

*Optionally, for the more adventurous, it can be done in a single or double kayak with a specialized guide.

*Navigation is subject to authorization from the Maritime Authority

Dinner at leisure and accommodation in the town of Puerto Río Tranquilo.

 

Day 2 
Full Day Excursion to Laguna San Rafael National Park, Northern Ice Fields - Route of the Parks of Patagonia. 

Meet at 06:50am at the local Operator's office in Puerto Rio Tranquilo for a tour along the lush 91km gravel road (approximately 2 hours) that will take you to the Explorers Bay Pier.

The crew awaits, and the guide delivers a safety briefing and general overview of the trip. After boarding the boat, a gentle journey begins along the final stretch and delta of the Exploradores River. This particularly beautiful setting is where you'll enjoy a homemade breakfast.

After 2 hours of sailing you arrive at San Rafael Lagoon National Park. If conditions are optimal, they disembark at the Conaf dock to take a short 30-minute round-trip interpretive walk and visit the ruins of the historic Hotel Ofqui.

Approach the wall of the San Rafael glacier, tasting of whisky or regional liquor with ancient ice.

 

ITINERARY day 2

Start Time: 06:50 hrs Meeting at the local operator's office located in Puerto Río Tranquilo, followed by transfer to Bahía Exploradores, 91 km via route X-728, (approximately 2 hours of travel in the local operator's vehicle on a gravel road)

9:00 hrs at Bahía Exploradores, embarkation and departure point.

End: Approximately 5:00 PM at the Explorers Bay dock / Approximately 7:00 PM arrival at Puerto Tranquilo

Duration: Approximately 12 hours

Day 3
Transfer to Balmaceda Airport.

  • Breakfast, check-out, and private van transfer from Puerto Río Tranquilo to Balmaceda Airport

Regardless of the time of year, in Coyhaique and the Carretera Austral you can experience all four seasons in a single day, so

that we suggest:

  • Dress in layers, polypropylene or quick-drying top
  • Warm fleece
  • Parka
  • Water-repellent trousers and windbreaker
  • Neck, head and hand protection (buff, gloves, cap / jockey cap)
  • Sunglasses
  • Water bottle

  • Outdoor boots with a high shaft and warm socks
