Explore on horseback the trails surrounding the imposing Cerro Castillo National Park, one of the wildest and most picturesque landscapes in Chilean Patagonia, amidst native forests and volcanic rock mountains.

A day trip to connect with nature at the pace of the horse, with unique views of the snow-capped peaks of Cerro Castillo in one of the most authentic destinations on the Carretera Austral.

Meeting with the staff of 100% Patagonia Slow Travel. Transfer in a private van from Villa Cerro Castillo to the local hosts' property.

10:00 hrs Welcome from the local hosts to begin the “Horseback Ride”.

The tour takes you through the landscapes of Chilean Patagonia, from ñire forests and valleys to mountains, culminating in a breathtaking view of Cerro Castillo and the twin lagoons. This activity is led by an experienced local guide from a family of settlers. 

Duration: Approximately 3 hours 

Includes: Technical briefing, helmet and gaiters

To conclude, the hostess of this day trip awaits you with a delicious oven-roasted Aysén lamb, accompanied by sopaipillas, potatoes, salads, appetizers, and drinks in a cozy dining area on the family's property. At the end of the day, transfer by van to your accommodation in Villa Cerro Castillo.

Regardless of the time of year, in Coyhaique and the Carretera Austral you can experience all four seasons in one day, so we suggest:

 

  • Dress in layers, polypropylene or quick-drying top
  • Warm fleece
  • Parka
  • Water-repellent trousers and windbreaker
  • Neck, head and hand protection (buff, gloves, cap / jockey cap)
  • Sunglasses
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Outdoor boots with a high shaft and warm socks
  • Small backpack with extra clothes
